Upcoming protest at 14/10/2024

Why are we protesting?

Since the beginning of September 2024, several Sierra Leonean refugees have been deported to Sierra Leone. The deportations are possible through travel certificates that were issued by the Sierra Leonean government for the German authorities following racist hearings. In October 2024, hearings will take place again at the State Office for Weights and Measures (Franz Schrank Straße 9) to prepare travel certificates for deportations.

Everyone has to stay. Because Sierra Leone is not safe.

The situation in Sierra Leone is politically and economically catastrophic.

A sharp increase in the price of basic foods repeatedly causes supply crises, political opponents of the government are threatened with arbitrary arrests and women and girls have no protection against violence and the threat of genital mutilation. Due to the lack of opportunities, the drug “Kush” is spreading like a deadly pandemic in Sierra Leonean society. Medical care is – if at all – only available in the cities with appropriate financial resources.

Many refugees from Sierra Leone have been living in Germany for many years, have families and children here, work or are doing job training. Some people have life-threatening illnesses and need long-term medical care and medication.

Asylum is a human right!

Stop the deportations to Sierra Leone!

Show solidarity with the protest of the Sierra Leonean refugees!
